About Us
The Riverside Young Writer’s (RYW), established in 2002, is a division of the Virginia Writers Club (VWC), founded in 1918. The mission of the RYW is to encourage and assist middle school and high school level students in the development of their writing talents. Activities include regular meetings where local groups have formed, an annual conference, and networking with Virginia Writers Club volunteers in a mentoring relationship either on line or in person. A newsletter is mailed or sent via email to all members featuring announcements of statewide activities, contest listings, awards, and publishing successes of RYWC members, writing tips and occasional interviews with local and nationally acclaimed writers and publishing industry professionals.
If a student is interested in having their writings published now, or in the future, membership in the RYWC and working with a mentor provides a wonderful opportunity to learn from published authors and people in the publishing business. Membership is FREE and open to all middle school and high school level students regardless of race, gender, national origin, religion or disability. More website info: Virginia Writers Club.

Special Note:
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic programs are often scheduled for delivery via virtual means. Check schedule closely for information about that possibility.
